Purpose

To apply programming skills for Microsoft Dynamics NAV in both technical and functional areas of the application.  Skills with Microsoft Visual Studio development technologies and SQL environments are essential.

Description

A NAV Development Consultant (Programmer/Analyst) is responsible for the design and development of modifications to the standard Microsoft Dynamics NAV application. You may also be tasked with developing and executing data upgrade processes and developing integrations to legacy systems when such processes require knowledge and use of Microsoft development tools and technologies. Other development activities may include integration from Microsoft SQL Server.

The Development Consultant may also be tasked with creating detailed documentation of the customizations and integrations.

  • Experienced 3+ Years in a development role for Microsoft Dynamics NAV
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Business process understanding
  • Web Services and Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Portal Server a plus
  • Microsoft® .NET technology, Microsoft® Visual Studio® development system
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft technology stack
  • Understanding of key ISVs within the defined vertical(s)
  • Integration of Microsoft Dynamics NAV to other applications
  • Understand and follow development best practices and ensures that modification are documented

Typical Activities

Diagnostic and Analysis

  • Support service estimations for development tasks

Design

  • Collaborating with the consultants in writing the specifications
  • Review the design documentation and related estimations

Development

  • Customization of the product to meet the needs of the customer based on the specifications from the Application Consultant
  • Integration of the solution with the customer’s legacy databases and systems
  • Document custom developed functionality in accordance to documentation standards and best practices
  • Implement add-ons and code from third parties
  • Initial test of the developed functionality
  • Data migration development and testing

Deployment

  • Support integrated testing
  • In case of upcoming customization requests during the deployment phase, perform the design and development tasks in accordance to the defined change request process

Operation

  • Clear pending issues
  • Finalize documentation
  • Trouble-shoot problems related to modifications

Upgrade

  • Evaluate necessary upgrade customizations for new versions of Microsoft Dynamics and, relevant ISV and add-on solutions.

Qualifications & Working Conditions

Qualifications

  • Dynamics NAV experience
  • Microsoft SQL Server experience
  • Training in the use of an object-oriented language such as Visual Basic, C++, C#, or Delphi
  • Associate degree in software development or equivalent experience
  • PMI certification desirable

Working Conditions

  • Would require 45-50 hours per week
