First off…Happy New Year! 2012 is only a few days old, but it has already surpassed the start of 2011 for our snowmobile race team, T&N Racing. Let me give you an update.
We started our new year at the Pro Vintage Olympus snowmobile race in Ironwood, MI. On Saturday, we qualified for 2 races and won both of them. This set high expectations for the final on Sunday, but in the meantime our thoughts turned to fellow Team Polaris rider, Levi LeVallee, who was attempting his world record jump on a snowmobile. Levi set his 361 foot world record jump before his accident while preparing for last year’s Red Bull No Limits New Year’s Event. He nearly died in that accident, so we were praying that this jump would go well.
Well, it exceeded all expectations. Not only did Levi beat his world record, but he shattered it with a 412 foot jump.
Check out the video of Levi LaVallee making history with his world record snowmobile jump:
So, when we returned to the track on Sunday, we wanted to continue the success that Polaris has been experiencing this race season. It turned out to be a perfect weekend. T&N Racing finished 1st in all 3 qualifying races and won the final on Sunday too!
This coming weekend we’re heading to Amherst, WI, for the Portage County Ice Wars. It’s the first of six races where we’ll compete for over $100,000. The pressure is on now because every qualifying race and every final count as points towards the TLR Cup. Wish us luck!
As always, you can follow along for trackside updates on the T&N Racing website.
