Shiny New Gadget of the Month: Beach Bum Bike Caddy

Amy Spencer on June 22, 2012 in Blog

Inspired by our client Saris Cycling Group and their bike advocacy efforts, I’ve been making a concerted effort to ride my bicycle more often.   We’ve had great weather for it, and cycling is a lot more convenient than driving around the beach community where I spend most of my free time in the summer.  The only problem is that it’s difficult (and unsafe) to ride a bike and carry a beach chair at the same time.  Therefore, I was thrilled when I discovered this month’s shiny new gadget, the Beach Bum Bike Caddy.

The Beach Bum Bike Caddy is a simple, yet clever invention that allows you to attach almost any folding chair to your bike, and then ride to the beach, lake, park, concert, or sporting event.

Available directly from the manufacturer’s web site, the Beach Bum Bike Caddy sells for approximately $20 plus shipping.  The device easily mounts to the rear axle of most bikes.  Once it’s installed, attaching a beach chair to your bike is as easy as opening and tightening a clamp.  Check it out for yourself!
