Software Selection

Software Selection

ABC helps clients define critical business drivers and select the solution that best achieves their objectives.

According to the Gartner Group, a research firm specializing in information technology issues, 75% of all ERP implementations do not meet the executive’s original vision. Selecting the right software for your business is crucial to ensuring your implementation is one of the few that does. ABC Computers is here to help and guide you every step of the way.

We believe you are best served when we listen first. By taking the time upfront to get to know your business, understand your vision, analyze your current environment and work closely with you to define goals, we can recommend and design the most appropriate system for your needs.

Our Software Selection Process

  1. First, we take the time to get to know your business and information management needs. Before we can meet your expectations, we need to know what your goals are, and we need to understand the critical business issues that currently hinder those achievements.
  2. Following the introductory meeting, we perform a “Needs Analysis” during which we gather information and define your detailed systems and environment. We meet with your senior management, systems project leader and representatives of each of your company’s functional areas to make sure we understand the needs of each group.
  3. After the Needs Analysis, we analyze your needs and consider a number of factors to determine which option will best meet your needs. Some areas of consideration include:
    • The match between your needs and the software’s out-of-the-box capabilities
    • The need to customize
    • Points of integration required between systems
    • The number of users and their proximity to the server (local or remote)
  4. Once we know that we have addressed all of your goals and concerns,  we will present a preliminary investment proposal for the software and services that will meet your needs and help you attain your goals.
  5. When you agree that the system recommendation is a good fit for your needs, and that ABC Computers is the right long-term systems business partner for you, we will suggest a thorough business process analysis. While this step is “optional,” the companies in which we perform this process have the most satisfactory experiences with their system implementation.

Software Selection Criteria

During the study performed by our experienced business consultants, we get into the day to day detail of your functional business areas and help you define the methods and procedures through which your company will benefit most from improved systems. This due diligence process can encompass Accounting, Manufacturing, Customer Relationship Management, and Warehouse Management. Your only decision should be whether you want the complete corporate business model evaluated, or whether you initially want to address just limited functional areas.

Obviously, the knowledge we gain during the business process analysis provides enormous benefits to you; this is the time during which we jointly examine and document your business policies, data flow, information requirements, report mappings, etc. The process helps identify specific areas of improvement and assists you in finalizing and quantifying your goals. Due diligence gives us insight into the details of your operations while the process gives your staff a good look at the capabilities and expertise of the ABC Computers team.

Following the presentation and review of the analysis document, and your acceptance of the final proposal,  we will begin the implementation of the system with our primary goal being that the project will be finished on time, on budget.
